Chrome Extensions for Etsy Sellers: Research Tools vs. Listing Writers

Search the Chrome Web Store for "Etsy" and you get dozens of extensions that sound alike. Most of them do one of two different jobs. Research extensions tell you what is selling and which keywords have demand. Listing extensions write the title, description, and tags, and some of them type the result into Etsy's editor for you. Knowing which job you need narrows the list fast.

Research extensions: what sells and what people search

EverBee overlays estimated monthly sales, revenue, and listing age on Etsy search results and shop pages. It's useful for sizing up a product idea before you make it. The sales numbers are estimates built from public signals, not Etsy's own data, so use them to compare listings rather than as exact figures.

Alura covers keyword research and listing audits, and its extension includes a Listing Helper that grades a draft listing before you publish it. eRank is the long-running option for keyword research, trend tracking, tag suggestions, and listing health checks, and its free tier is enough for many small shops.

Marmalead sits between the two groups. Its extension works as an SEO coach inside Etsy: keyword suggestions, title feedback, tag recommendations, and description rewrites, all based on Marmalead's own Etsy search data.

Listing extensions: writing the copy for you

How to choose

If you don't know what to make next, or you can't tell why a listing gets no views, start with a research extension. Writing better copy won't fix a product nobody searches for. If you already know what you sell and the slow part is writing each listing, a listing extension saves the most time, because it takes out the copy-paste between a generator tab and Etsy.

The two groups also work together: a research tool finds the keywords, and a writer turns them into a listing. When you run both, check that the writer lets you steer it with your own keywords, and not only with the photo.

What to check before installing any of them

Read the permissions on the Web Store page. An Etsy extension needs access to etsy.com, but it shouldn't need to read every site you visit. Check whether the extension saves or publishes listings on its own; one that only fills fields leaves the final click with you.
